Desciptive Video Service (DVS) Programs

This unique series offers free showings of feature-length films in Descriptive Video Service (DVS) format designed especially for persons who have trouble seeing the screen. Everyone is invited to participate in this different yet enjoyable way of viewing movies.

The DVS method enhances the film-going experience by providing special narrations that describe the scene, action, actors, and other important elements in the film that visually impaired persons are unable to see. Films used in the series are part of the St. Louis Public Library's DVS video collection.

While designed especially for individuals with vision impairments, the free series is open to everyone who would like to participate.

DVS Movies of the Month will be shown in DVS format at two different Library locations every month:

Second Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at the Schafly Branch, 225 N. Euclid Ave.

Fourth Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Machacek Branch, 6424 Scanlan Ave.
