Over 500 individuals of all ages, including those with and without sight, and families enjoyed this unique festival, the first of its kind in St. Louis. A few of many activities, including “Beepball” -- baseball for those who are blind or visually impaired, creative painting of a METRO bus by kids and families, an interactive exhibit of life-size exotic animals from Safari International, appearance by Fredbird and an interactive “Day in the Life of a Blind Student” were supplemented by a number of other activities including all day music.

The event was part of the Society’s centennial celebration and held at Shaw Park in Clayton. Delta Gamma Center for Children with Visual Impairments, which is celebrating their 60th Anniversary this year as well, was also actively involved in sponsoring and supporting this unique event.

The City of Clayton was also honored for their commitment and actions in making their downtown and the area around all the county office buildings accessible to those who are blind and visually impaired through cut-curbs on sidewalks at intersections and audible sounds for street crossing lights.
