As the year winds down and we celebrate Christmas and New Year’s I am thankful for all our staff do for so many. All our employees are such giving people, not only to those they work with but many times to those they do not know, but are in need of help. Every year we try to do something special for others in need, and this year Kendra Hjorth, one of our O&M Specialists received a call from an American couple working with a 5 year-old blind child in East Africa who needed some special equipment and toys to aid his growth and development. After being contacted again this fall Kendra organized our staff who collected a number of items this this child and his younger brother could use at home and at their school. Additional donations allowed us to ship two full boxes of items to the child and his family.
It is reassuring that the holiday spirit thrives here at the Society, not only at this special time of year but all year long. Thanks to our staff two young blind children, and their parents, living in East Africa will know they are thought of by people half way around the world!
Thank you Kendra and all SBVI Staff!
