EXPLANATION:
Every detail of
creating an email account in Outlook or Windows Mail, which is called an email
client, cannot be addressed here. But there is key information you need to know
such as mail server names, port numbers and possible other security settings.
That information is determined by the provider that you are signed up with such
as AT&T, Yahoo, Gmail to name a few. First you
need to be signed up to an email provider and then you can configure an email
client to retrieve your email from that provider. Calling for the information may
be easier than looking on the internet for it. Sighted help may be the easiest.
To create or modify
an email client in Windows Mail, you start by going to tools and arrow to accounts
and choose new button or the change button. Each page tab needs to be filled
out with appropriate information. Here is an example of a configuration:
Your name Klaus
Email address Klaus@klaus.com
User name Klaus
Password *********
Remember password is
checked
Incoming mail server
pop.att.yahoo.com
Outgoing mail server
smtp.att.yahoo.com
Click on more setting
button
Outgoing server tab –
my outgoing server requires authentication is checked
Server port numbers
Incoming is 995
This server requires
an encrypted connection (SSL) is checked
Outgoing is 465
This server requires
an encrypted connection (SSL) is checked
As you can see it is
not very simple and every field needs to be filled in properly. An example of
this can be done in class and it will be a little different than what you read
earlier.
