DEFINITIONS:
VIRTUAL CURSOR: the
Virtual Cursor is used just like the PC Cursor for reviewing text, except that
it cannot be visually seen
HTML:
Hypertext Markup Language. That is the programming language web pages are
written in
ELEMENTS: everything
displayed on a web page is an element. Paragraphs, headings, tables,
lists, and links are all examples of HTML elements.
TABLES: an element of
a web page which is an area with columns and rows used to organize data
FRAMES: an element of
a web page that is used to divide a webpage into separate sections
KEYS YOU WILL NEED TO

Screen reader keys: you
will be using Jaws Help to learn new navigation keys
EXPLANATION:
The
virtual cursor is active by default and it is the cursor used for web pages. Tables and frames are
used to organize information on a web page. Using the read all command with
JAWS, which is insert down arrow, will read the entire page. Jaws will simply
read through all table and frames with the read all command. You could read the
whole page one line at a time with the down arrow. JAWS also
provides navigation quick keys to access elements of a web page much
more quickly, rather than having to read one line at a time. You will learn
more about using navigation quick keys by doing the activities of this lesson.
