EXPLANATION:
The screen reader
will read where the current focus is: 2 examples are; start button is read when
the focus is there or, file is read when the alt key is pressed because focus
is brought there. One of the menus is a
system menu where you can choose to restore, minimize or maximize a window
(there are a few other commands in that menu as well). It is a good idea to
maximize windows. Pressing alt + space +
x is the shortcut key for doing so. There
are underlined letters in the menu names, which can be used to open those menus
quicker. An example is using alt + t to
open the tools menu instead of alt, pressing right arrow several times and then
using the down arrow to open. Some items in the menus have a dot dot dot … after the item. The dot
dot dot … means a dialogue
box follows. A dialogue box requests information from you. Moving in a dialogue box is done mainly with
the tab, shift + tab and arrow keys. You can close a dialogue box window if you
do not wish to work with it. We will
look at these examples using 2 programs.
One is Wordpad, which is a word processor and
Internet Explorer, which is a browser used to browse the Internet.
